Pandjaitan has ordered increased vigilance against the surge in the Omicron variant which is contributing to the increase in COVID cases. These include increasing health facilities and converting beds for COVID patients.

Pandjaitan said the PPKM policy that the government had taken would follow the adjusted assessment level, based on the coverage of inpatient capacity.

“Based on the data we have collected from various sources, Omicron has much faster transmission, exceeding the transmission of the Delta variant,” he said.

Pandjaitan claimed that the government is continuing to update the data and has asked for input from various experts in their fields.

As well as an analysis of developments in all countries so that the government’s handling of Omicron is handled in a holistic manner,” said Pandjaitan.
