Prof. Dr. dr. Sidartawan Soegondo, Sp.PD-KEMD, FINASIM, FACE, who also serves as Chairman of Diabetes Connection Care at Eka Hospital, has been honoured with the Augusto D. Litonjua Pillars in Diabetes Education Award from the Philippine Center for Diabetes Education Foundation, Inc.
This prestigious award recognises Prof. Sidartawan’s outstanding contributions to diabetes education and patient empowerment, as well as his efforts in enhancing the capabilities of healthcare professionals across Asia. The award was presented during the annual National Assembly of Diabetes Educators (NADE) held on the 12th of November 2025 at Makati Diamond Residences, Makati City, Philippines.
On this occasion, Prof. Sidartawan was also invited to deliver a scientific lecture titled “Diabetes in Asians: Unique Aspects Impacting Diagnosis and Care”, which was met with great enthusiasm from participants representing various countries.
“This award is the result of collaboration, hard work, and dedication from the entire team in improving the quality of diabetes education and care, particularly in Asia. I am deeply honoured and hope that this achievement can serve as an inspiration for medical professionals and the public in Indonesia,” said Prof. Sidartawan in his address.
The award not only brings pride to Eka Hospital but also elevates Indonesia’s reputation on the global stage, particularly in the field of medicine and chronic disease management, such as diabetes.
About Diabetes Connection Care at Eka Hospital
Since 2020, Eka Hospital has established Diabetes Connection Care, the first integrated diabetes care centre in Indonesia, where professionals from multiple disciplines collaborate to manage patients across all stages—from health promotion and prevention to diagnosis, therapy, and rehabilitation.

The centre provides medical services and best practices that facilitate the adoption and access to evidence-based therapies, aiming to improve the quality of care and patient outcomes. Patient progress and outcomes are collected from all participating locations and stored in a central registry database for ongoing quality assessment and performance evaluation.
