A home evolves with time. It changes, grows and gathers new stories, while the feeling of home remains.

Nearly 14 years after becoming part of Ubud’s hospitality landscape, Alaya Resort Ubud is entering its next chapter, strengthening its commitment to five-star hospitality standards while preparing enhancements to its lobby and Brasserie Restaurant. This evolution reflects the resort’s continued focus on its guests, its people and its relationship with the destination it calls home.

Delivering a five-star hospitality experience involves more than what guests see. Behind every stay are standards, people, systems and a responsibility to care for the destination in which hospitality takes place.

At Alaya Resort Ubud, that responsibility continues to guide the resort’s journey. On the 8th and the 9th of September 2026, the resort successfully completed its SNI Kebintangan assessment for five-star hotel classification and Standar Usaha Berbasis Risiko (SUBR) audit, reaffirming its commitment to applicable hospitality standards in Indonesia.

The two assessments were conducted by PT QIS CERTI Indonesia, an official certification body in Bali. The SNI Kebintangan assessment covers key elements of a star-rated hotel’s operations, including service quality, facilities, cleanliness, safety, human resource competency and sustainability. Meanwhile, the Standar Usaha Berbasis Risiko assessment forms part of the applicable risk-based standards for hospitality businesses in Indonesia.

For Alaya Resort Ubud, completing these assessments is not simply about fulfilling a procedural or operational requirement. It is part of an ongoing commitment. From the guest experience and operational practices to the people who deliver them, quality is built into the everyday details of hospitality. The assessments therefore provide an opportunity for the Alaya team to reaffirm the importance of consistency, professionalism, safety and care across the resort.

“For us at Alaya Hotels & Resorts, standards are not only about meeting requirements. They are about creating a strong foundation to keep growing from growing the business and our team, to creating opportunities for people and contributing to the communities around us. This is what we mean by growing from zero to hero. Ultimately, that growth should be felt by our guests. We want them to continue feeling excited about what Alaya brings to every destination, while always feeling the warmth of home whenever they choose to stay with us in Ubud and Bali. The completion of the SNI Kebintangan and SUBR audits at Alaya Resort Ubud is another step forward in that journey, ” said Dewi Mas, CHA, CHT, Chief Operating Officer of Alaya Hotels & Resorts.

As its commitment to growth extends beyond standards and operations, Alaya Resort Ubud is preparing to transform two of its most recognisable spaces: the lobby and Brasserie Restaurant. The enhancements will bring a fresh expression to the guest experience while maintaining a deep connection to the place the resort has called home for nearly 14 years.

There may be a few surprises along the way.

Since opening its doors, Alaya Resort Ubud has drawn inspiration from the living heritage of its surroundings, where art, craftsmanship, community and Balinese traditions continue to shape everyday life. The upcoming enhancements build on that relationship through the use of authentic Balinese materials, the work of local artisans and artistic details inspired by Bali’s cultural character.

The first expression of this evolution will be found in the lobby, where the arrival experience is being refreshed to offer a more distinctive welcome to Ubud.

Balinese craftsmanship, artistic expression and the warmth of local hospitality will come together in a space designed to reflect the character of its surroundings. Rather than simply changing the lobby’s appearance, the intention is to create an arrival experience that feels unmistakably connected to Ubud, from the materials and details guests encounter to the sense of place they experience from the moment they arrive.

The evolution continues at Brasserie, where the story goes beyond a change of space.

Brasserie Restaurant will return with a new identity and a new name, marking a new direction for dining at Alaya Resort Ubud and bringing a fresh perspective to Ubud’s evolving culinary scene. The renewed experience will bring together food, atmosphere, art, craftsmanship and a strong sense of place, continuing the resort’s longstanding relationship with Ubud’s culture and creative spirit.

For now, some of that story is deliberately being kept behind closed doors.

The restaurant’s new name, concept and design will be revealed closer to its reopening, giving guests, the local community and visitors to Ubud something new to discover.

“For nearly 14 years, Alaya Resort Ubud has been part of the story of this remarkable place we call home. Our commitment has always been to create experiences that feel genuinely connected to Bali and to Ubud, not simply inspired by them. As we look towards the next chapter, we are carrying that same belief forward, with a fresh perspective and a few things we are ready to reveal. We look forward to welcoming our guests into this new chapter and sharing the surprises when the time is right,” remarked Jimmy Gunawan, Managing Director, Alaya Hotels & Resorts

Throughout the enhancement period, Alaya Resort Ubud remains committed to caring for its guests and maintaining the warm, personalised hospitality that has defined the resort since its opening.

The enhancements have been planned with the guest experience firmly in mind, allowing the resort to continue welcoming travellers to Ubud while preparing its spaces for what comes next.

As Alaya Resort Ubud approaches its 14th anniversary, its next chapter brings together continued adherence to five-star hospitality standards, investment in the guest experience and a deeper connection to Ubud’s culture, community and creative spirit.

Nearly 14 years in, the story of Alaya Resort Ubud is still unfolding.

Because a home is never truly finished. It simply continues to grow.
